Penny Monetti, LPC, NCC began her path to healing trauma by first working as an EMT with
a Colorado ambulance department and Summit County fire department where her duties included search and rescue in the Rocky Mountains. She then received her nursing degree, raised her children while being
a military spouse, and later became a Clinical Mental Health Counselor focused on the healing of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder.
Penny is an EMDRIA approved EMDR Consultant. She incorporates this specialized training with first responders, those affected by homicide, terrorism victims, military personnel, their families, and those affected by depressive disorders, anxiety, grief, obsessive compulsive disorders, self-esteem and anyone who feels stuck in their old ways of thinking.
Penny treats adults, adolescents, and children incorporating Internal Family Systems and Expressive Art Therapy along with EMDR into her sessions.
Penny is a member of the EMDR International Association and the International Crisis Intervention Stress Foundation, the National Counseling Association, and is a First Responder Provider for the State of Missouri.
Penny is currently is working with the United States Congress on a bill to provide EMDR for all active-duty veterans who have been deployed or seek support for depression and anxiety. She also includes her four-legged therapist, Ruffio (Leader of the lost boys from the movie "Hook") into her sessions upon request.
Penny is passionate about advocacy, teaching and mentoring other therapists seeking to expand their EMDR skills while she continues to grow daily in learning and witnessing how EMDR changes peoples' lives from one of bondage to freedom.
